Langdon suggested that I make a page with my father’s WWII photography. We have a box full of his old photographs, many taken in Burma and India durig the war. But, for now… I thought I would make a file of ancient family photos.
The following two photos were taken during WWII when my father served in the Air Force as a photographer. He had studied in New York under a well known photogapher named Rabinovich and during the war he served in a unit that did aerial reconnaissance photography. It is clear from his photos that he had a side business, taking photos of the men and officers for them to send back to their families. He earned money from this which he sent home to our mother, then living in New York. (The following are all thumbnails, so click on them to view full size. Then hit the back arrow on your browser).
The following was taken in NY when we lived at 111th St. between Amsterdamn and Broadway. Philip was just born and I was obviously planning a career as a cowboy. I think I was Hopalong Cassidy or Gene Autry.

Here is Philip holding his baby sister, Cynthia. (Not as I previously posted, me holding Philip.)
My uncle Jim, my grandmother, Mary Preston, and my mother at our home on West Mt. Airy Road in Croton. This had to have been very shortly after we moved to Croton from NY.
Arts and crafts, in addition to my father’s professional photography, were always part of our family. My mother was famous for her creative stichery. The first two are of me and the third is Philip.
My father loved cars. As the children left home he spent more time restoring old Lancias. Unfortunately, he sold them too soon. They are now very valuable. This why Philip now owns a Lancia that he is restoring and I own a Morgan +8. The love of sports cars is in the blood.
All four of us children were active in the 4H Club, whether for exhibiting dogs, dog obedience, horses, or sheep.
